Waves and Brambles

I cast on for this shawl using the crochet cast on method using a larger hook so I had a very loose and stretchy cast on. My dilemma because this is a three color shawl is whether to break off the yarn or carry it up the side.  I am going to carry it up the side because I do not want to weave in so many ends and because it could conserve my yarn.
