Hollywood Knitting - Patty Duke

Patty Duke was born December 14, 1946, in Elmhurst, New York, as Anna Marie Duke.

She was the youngest recipient of the Academy Award in a competitive category when she won the Best Supporting Actress award in 1962 for her role as Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker."

She was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild in 1985 making her the second woman to have been elected to that position.

She became an advocate for mental health issues after being diagnosed in 1982 with bipolar disorder.

She died March 29, 2016, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The picture of the woman knitting is Jean Byron who played Natalie Lane, the mother of the character played by Duke.
